The conference is fast approaching and we are in high gear planning RVAsec. The CFP just closed and the committee is in the process of reviewing and choosing talks for this year. We hope to publish the speaker selection very soon!

New Hotel For 2017!

RVAsec continuously looks for ways to improve the conference each year. Yes, change is good!

We have reserved a block of rooms at the brand new Graduate Richmond for out of town guests or anyone that would prefer to stay downtown. The rate is $139/night (which does NOT include parking).

You can either book online or call the hotel.

When you call (413-821-3323) the hotel please tell mention the block “RVAsec” to get the special rate.

The Graduate will be a brand new hotel (it is not even open yet!) closer to the conference location.

Ron Gula (@RonGula) To Keynote RVAsec 2017!

We are pleased to announce that Ron Gula, President of Gula Tech Adventures, will be keynoting RVAsec 2017!

Ron Gula started his cyber security career as a network penetration tester for the NSA. At BBN, he developed network honeypots to lure hackers and he ran US Internetworking’s team of penetration testers and incident responders.

As CTO of Network Security Wizards, Ron pioneered the art of network security monitoring and produced the Dragon Intrusion Detection System which was recognized as a market leader by Gartner in 2001.

As CEO and co-founder of Tenable Network Security, Ron led the company’s rapid growth and product vision from 2002 through 2016. He helped them scale to more than 20,000 customers worldwide, raise $300m in venture capital and achieve revenues in excess of $100m annually.


Mikko Hypponen (@mikko) To Keynote RVAsec 2017!

We are pleased to announce that Mikko Hypponen, CRO at F-Secure will be keynoting RVAsec 2017!

Mikko Hypponen is a worldwide authority on computer security. He has been reverse engineering malware since 1991. Mr. Hypponen has written on his research for the New York Times, Wired and Scientific American and lectured at the universities of Oxford, Stanford and Cambridge. He’s also the Curator for the Malware Museum at the Internet Archive.


RVAsec 2017 Registration Is Now Open!

Tickets for RVAsec 2017 are now on sale!

Early registration price is only $125 for great speakers, food and beverages, t-shirt, swag, parking and more!

RVAsec’s base ticket price for 2017 is $150 and will be in place on 3/1–so don’t wait! And if that’s not enough incentive to purchase your tickets early, late registrations (after 4/21) will be $225!

Don’t forget all the things you get with registration, including 2 full days of talks, meals, snacks, drinks, reception, after party, prizes, a capture the flag contest, t-shirt & swag!

Once we sell out there will be no more tickets available.

So, to recap the conference prices:

  • $125 discounted price until 2/29
  • $150 regular price until 4/20
  • $225 late registration until 5/26
  • $350 super late registration until 6/1

 

If you are unable to attend due to the price, please contact us to discuss as we do have stipends available and volunteer opportunities are a great way to get in for free! Once again there will be no tickets sold at the door, and don’t forget that RV4sec has sold out every year–so don’t wait!

RVAsec is a Richmond, VA based security convention that brings top industry speakers to the midatlantic region. In its fifth year, RVAsec 2016 attracted 400 security professionals from across the country. For 2017, the conference is a two day and dual-track format, with a mixed focus on technical and management/business presentations.

All talks must be 50 minutes in length, and submissions will need to select either technical or business/management tracks.
